HEIDI SOPINKA is the author of The Dictionary of Animal Languages, chosen as the book of the month at the Tate, shortlisted for the Kobo Writing Emerging Writer Prize, and longlisted for the Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize. She has lectured at the Tate Modern, been interviewed at Shakespeare and Co. in Paris, and has spoken at various internationally renowned literary festivals including in Miami and Edinburgh. A former helicopter pilot and environment columnist at The Globe and Mail, her writing has won a national magazine award and has appeared in The Paris Review, The Believer, Electric Lit, Brick, and Lit Hub, and has been anthologized in Art Essays. Utopia, her second novel, was named best fiction of 2022 by The Globe and Mail and CBC. She is co-founder and co-designer at Horses Atelier.
